What are the SAT and ACT exams?

The SAT and ACT are tests given to high school students with a desire to attend college.  Scores on one of these are required by most colleges as part of the application process.   Many colleges use it to make decisions about admissions and merit scholarships.

The SAT test is administered by the College Board, a national, nonprofit association “dedicated to preparing, inspiring, and connecting students to college and opportunity.”

The ACT test is a national college admissions examination that consists of subject area tests in English, Mathematics, Reading and Science.  There is an optional writing section.   ACT results are accepted by all four-year colleges and universities in the US.

What has changed about the SAT?

You may have heard the the SAT is being changed.   In March 2016, the CollegeBoard began administering the latest revision of the SAT and has made some minor tweaks since then.

Nsoromma’s  test prep for the new SAT will begin in January 2017, after we see what the final version of the new SAT will look like.  That will give you plenty of time to get prepared for the spring tests.  If you are really worried about it, consider taking the ACT and enrolling in one of our ACT test prep courses right now.  The nice thing is that the new SAT has become very similar to the ACT, so ACT prep will help you with the new SAT also!
